Many visitors purposely look for taking the Star Ferry’s crossings for an up-close look at Victoria Harbour, one of the world’s most photographed harbours, while commuters have kept their affection for them because they still are highly reliable and efficient ferry services. National Geographic named the ferry crossing at Victoria Harbour as one of 50 ‘places of a lifetime’.  These charming double deck boats can be ideal water venues for wedding cocktails, private parties, corporate events, new product launches, etc.

Four choices are available namely “World Star”, ”Shining Star”, ”Meridian Star” and “Classic Ferry”. Click the pictures below for details:

World Star

“World Star” is an environmentally friendly ferry making use of the latest low emission technologies. It runs a distinctive tourist service of which it can ply beyond Victoria Harbour. With the introduction of the diesel-electric engine, the chimney stack above the roof will be of decorative use to preserve the iconic image of Star Ferry; the same section located at the interior upper deck of the ferry has been removed, thus creating a much larger interior compartment with uninterrupted view from one end of the boat to the other.

Remarks:

1. Rental reservation has to be made at least 1 month in prior, and subject to ferry availability.
2. A 30% deposit is required once booking is confirmed.
3. Additional administrative charge will apply if extra manpower or special berthing arrangement is needed.
4. Ferry hirers may arrange their own on-board catering services.
5. All terms and conditions are subject to rental agreement. 
6. The “Star” Ferry Company, Limited reserved the rights of final decision in case of any dispute on rental terms and conditions.

FAQ

What is the booking process for ferry charter?
  1. Download and complete the reservation form.
  2. Submit the completed form via email to promotion@starferry.com.hk 
  3. A follow-up reply will be sent with vessel availability and a quotation.
What is the minimum charter duration?

The minimum charter duration is 2 hours.

How many days in advance should I make a reservation?

Deposit must be paid at least 30 days in advance to confirm the reservation.

Are catering and other entertainment services included in the charter?

Star Ferry does not provide catering or entertainment services. Hirers may arrange their own onboard catering and other entertainment activities.

How much deposit is required?

Upon confirmation of the charter, 30% of the total fee is required as deposit.

Is it possible to conduct a site vist of the vessel?

A site visit during office hours (Mon – Fri)can be arranged at $200 per visit (with max of 8 people), the site visit fee can be deducted from the total sum upon confirmation to proceed with the ferry hire.

Am I allowed to decorate the vessel / pier during the charter period?

Hirers may decorate the vessel and deck during the charter period. All decoration and restatement must be completed within the charter time, and the vessel must be returned to its original condition - only non-permanent fixings are allowed. Decorations are not permitted at the pier.

Is outside catering allowed?

Hirers may arrange their own onboard catering services except open-flame cooking.

Apart from Star Ferry Pier, can the vessel berth at other piers? E.g. WestK Quay or Hung Hom Pier.

Vessels can berth at Central Star Ferry Pier, Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier, and Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier respectively.
